South Jordan Pizza Review Update
Hey, South Jordan pizza fans: We love pizza and seek great pizza restaurants. We’ve been trying them slowly and were losing faith that Utah could provide a decent pizza. Granted Utah is not the food hub of the US, nor a spicy grove of culinary treats. In fact, the better food in Utah seems to arrive via newcomer and foreign origination. Here’s where we are with our search for pizza so far…
Pier 49 in West Jordan and downtown SLC: Despite the San Francisco reference, their pizza is unique unto itself. Typically great crust and a nice sauce make this a great pizza for the pizza-philes who avoid bland garbage. Their all-you-can-eat buffet doesn’t seem to be the same quality as the pizzas made one-by-one by order. However, they will make any pizza on their list of allowed specialties and are very responsive to customer orders. The staff has always been very nice and the prices are not too bad.

Rock Creek Pizza in South Jordan on 13400: What a deal! Big pizzas and a great taste forthe best price in town. Granted, we don’t consider fodder like Dominoes or Pizza hut, which might have better prices. Rock Creek cuts nice narrow slices, which is perfect for taking the kids. The staff is like a family and are very pleasant, responsive, and accommodating. They once gave us the wrong toppings and after a casual comment, they rushed a new pizza to us and told us to take the original home. Wow, everyone enjoyed Rock Creek Pizza and we’re sure to return.
The Pie in South Jordan by City Hall: Apparently started as a small college hangout, this dark roomed pizza restaurant attracts the young and hungry. The original was in a basement with no windows, so was very dark, and the South Jordan restaurant has blocked the windows to maintain the theme. Perhaps on the high side for price, The Pie produces a cheesey pizza that appeals to cheese lovers. Their other toppings are a bit bland, but Utah seems to have adopted all the bland flavors. If you love cheese, The Pie is for you, else if you prefer other flavors and better prices, Rock Creek Pizza Company and Pier 49 Pizza are better destinations.
Hey! If you know a great pizza restaurant to try out, let us know since we are still seeking better pizza. We’re about ready to call other states and inform them how much business they could get if they brought their recipes here. If they did that, they’d kick some serious rear around here!
